In what many will consider an interesting maneuver made my UFC matchmaker Joe Silva, surging middleweight contender, Mark Munoz (11-2) will meet the fringe top 10 power-puncher, Chris Leben (26-7) in the main event of UFC 138.

Leben will be making his first octagon appearance since blitzing the legendary Wanderlei Silva (who managed to survive a mere 27 seconds with the hard hitting TUF veteran) at UFC 132. Leben has won four of his last five bouts, which include stoppage victories over Yoshihiro Akiyama and Aaron Simpson in addition to Wanderlei Silva.

Munoz on the other hand enters the bout with a bit more momentum on his side, having pieced together a three fight win streak that includes victories over former title challenger, Demian Maia and Aaron Simpson.

The rugged Californian sits in the eighth position in our middleweight top 10 rankings. A win over Leben will likely place Munoz in a position to challenge for the title, in which occasional training partner, Anderson Silva currently claims rights.

The bout will be the UFC?s first non-title five round affair. You can catch the event on taped delay via Spike TV, November 5th.
