Chael Sonnen's Court Sentencing Postponed, Further Delaying UFC Return

Chael Sonnen's MMA comeback will have to wait a little while longer.Sonnen's sentencing hearing stemming from a federal money laundering guilty plea has been postponed, a U.S. Attorney's Office spokesperson confirmed to MMA Fighting.
The hearing, originally scheduled for Monday, has been pushed to April 8 at 11:30 am Pacific time.

Anderson Silva thinks Jon Jones is "amazing" and believes he'll be UFC Champ for a long time

One fight that has been heavily discussed since Jon Jones captured the Light Heavyweight Championship on Saturday night is a potential bout between him and UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.
While there's no clear interest from either fighter about that particular fight at the moment, Silva has given some thoughts about the new Light Heavyweight Champ in an interview with ULTMMA.
"Tonight, Jon Jones... I don't know, amazing," Silva commented. "This is new for Jon Jones. This can continue for Jon Jones.. in more fights, more experience, techniques."
"My opinion of Jon Jones? [He'll be] champion for a long time"
Asked about whether he'd move up to light heavyweight again, Silva was non-commital, but made it clear he's just fine where he's at.
"I don't have a plan to move up or down," he said. "I'm very happy [at middleweight]."
Penick's Analysis: It doesn't sound like Silva has any interest in going up, though he didn't exactly shut it down either. He's got the same impression of Jones as most do at this point, and I don't think anyone is necessarily chomping at the bit to stand across the cage from Jones at this point. This would be a huge fight that I'd love to see, but it's nothing more than a fantasy fight right now.

UFC FIGHT NIGHT 24 RESULTS: Anthony Johnson smothers Dan Hardy to hand the Brit his third straight loss

Saturday's co-main event between Anthony "Rumble" Johnson and Dan Hardy promised to be a barn burner. Both fighters talked heading into the event about how ready they were to stand toe to toe and look for the knockout in a back and forth brawl. But once Johnson got Hardy to the canvas in the first round, he realized where his major advantage in the fight one, and he unapologetically utilized that to bring Hardy to the ground continuously in the fight, earning a well-deserved and much needed win over the Brit.
The fight started out as most expected, with both fighters swinging heavy punches at one another, and Johnson even dropped Hardy with a grazing head kick. But once on the ground, it was clear that the much bigger Johnson was going to be able to bully Hardy around.
The Brit simply got more and more frustrated as the fight went, being continuously put on his back and taking sporadic punishment from Johnson. The crowd grew restless as the fight played out in the opposite manner of which they were promised, but it was simply a very smart gameplan for Johnson throughout the fight, and he said afterward that ultimately, the win was more important.
"Deep down inside, I wanted to finish the fight," Johnson said after the fight (transcribed by MMAJunkie.com). "But in reality, I just needed to win. I've been out for a year and some change. I needed to get back in the groove of things and just get the win. I didn't really need to go for a knockout or a submission."
"I knew I could bang with him; that was no problem. I knew I could do that. But I knew his weakness was his wrestling, and I know that's one of my strengths, so I took it to my advantage and used it."
As for Hardy, the one-time title challenger has now lost three straight fights, a distinction that puts any fighter at risk of being cut from the UFC's roster. However, UFC President Dana White said after the fight that he wouldn't definitely be cut.
"[He won't] necessarily [be cut]," White said. "We'll have to wait and see. I f***ing love that kid."
Johnson now looks to make a move towards the top of the division after the impressive performance, while Hardy goes back to the drawing board. The Brit will need to improve his wrestling game, as it's a rough achilles hell to have in a division dominated by wrestlers.

In a rematch of one of the wildest, craziest slugfests in mixed martial arts history, Chan Sung Jung forced Leonard Garcia to tap out with just one second remaining in the second round of their fight Saturday at UFC Fight Night 24.
Although this fight wasn't quite the memorable battle that their first fight was, it was entertaining. And the result was more satisfying: In their last bout, Garcia won a highly questionable split decision. But this time around Jung took it out of the judges' hands, using a nifty twister submission on Garcia to secure the submission victory.
It was the first twister submission in UFC history.
