Now it's time to define more carefully the newly conceived "Burn-in" and to differentiate burn-in (with its typically more internal, yin energy and "draining" essence) from burnout (with its more external, "straining" yang nature). Akin to burnout, burn-in is also a gradual process by which a person detaches from work and other significant roles and relationships in response to excessive and prolonged stress and mental, physical, and emotional strain.

Earnhardt offspring set to make MMA debut
Jeffrey Earnhardt descended from NASCAR royalty. As the grandson of legend Dale Earnhardt and the nephew of Dale Earnhardt, Jr., racing is literally in Jeffrey's bloodline. The he has raced and plans to race again, Earnhardt is debuting in a new sport: MMA.
Earnhardt will fight at Fight Lab 25 in Charlotte, N.C. as an amateur on Tuesday night. He will fight Chris Faison at bantamweight. Earnhardt trains at Renegade Fighting Systems in Charlotte.
Though he races on the Rolex Sports Car Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series, he was attracted to the challenge and physical conditioning of MMA. On Tuesday night, he wants to use his fight to show that race car drivers are great athletes, too.
"A lot of people don't see race car athletes as true athletes," he said to MMA Fighting. "They don't think we're capable of doing anything other than sitting in a car and driving in a circle. A lot of people don't understand the reality of it. This is an opportunity to prove to people that race car drivers are athletes. It's a lot harder than people realize. Hopefully this MMA fight will help people realize that, and that we can hold our own as athletes."
But he's still an Earnhardt, and the 22-year-old said racing will always be number one for him. Fighting is fun, but racing cars is the family business.

?King Mo? Lawal signs one-of-a-kind deal with TNA wrestling and Bellator (VIDEO)
"This deal is a dream come true for me," Lawal said. "Bjorn [Rebney, Bellator CEO] and Dixie [Carter, TNA president] have given me the opportunity to engage in my two great loves, mixed martial arts and professional wrestling, at the same time.� And, to have it all on Spike TV is really Buttercream icing on a big ole cake ? not that whipped cream stuff either!"
He will begin appearing with TNA Impact this summer. When Bellator moves from MTV2 to Spike in 2013, Lawal will return to mixed martial arts.
It's a perfect fit for Lawal, who has world-class amateur wrestling credentials and enough showmanship to fit in well among the pro wrestling world. His fight entrances often used props and dancers, and he wore a crown and a cape to the cage. Lawal also showed off his pro wrestling chops with Strikeforce heavyweight Daniel Cormier in November of 2009.
This contract is a bright spot for what had been a turbulent 2012 for Lawal. He contracted a life-threatening staph infection after knee surgery. His victory over Lorenz Larkin was overturned by the Nevada Athletic Commission for a positive drug test, and he was suspended from MMA for nine months. After the hearing to appeal his suspension, Lawal called a commissioner a racist [expletive], and was cut from Strikeforce. Though he apologized personally to the commissioner, he was still not invited back to the Zuffa-owned promotion.
He doesn't see a scenario where he will return to Zuffa through Strikeforce or the UFC:
"I'm not going to wait for nobody. If somebody comes to me with something that is good and a great deal, I'm going to take the best deal. And right now, the Bellator deal is the best deal you can possibly get. With Bellator and Impact Wrestling, that's the best deal you can possibly get, and I took it."

With a depleted roster following its acquisition by Zuffa, Strikeforce continues to face questions of its validity as a fight promotion. With ratings lower than the last couple of years on Showtime, and bloated fighter contracts out-spending gate receipts, there's been a growing mindset that it's only a matter of time before the one-time competitor is absorbed fully by the UFC.
Not so fast, says UFC President Dana White.
"Strikeforce is not going anywhere," White said in an interview with Ron Kruck for HDNet's Inside MMA. "Strikeforce is performing very well for Showtime. They love the business, it's not going anywhere."
Furthermore, Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez isn't going anywhere, either. Despite complaints of his level of opposition and a lack of motivation fighting said opposition, Melendez will remain in Strikeforce for the time being.
"Gilbert Melendez is a huge star over there," White said. "He's their guy. He just won again, and he will fight again on Showtime."
As for who Melendez will face next, or whether there's any possibility of an opponent being brought over from the UFC, White simply left the door open for anything.
"We'll see, I don't know who he's going to fight next, but anything is possible," he said. "We'll see what happens."
Penick's Analysis: Showtime must have some real lowered expectations, and Zuffa must be alright with much lower live audiences and gates for Strikeforce if they're considering the first half of the year as "performing very well." It's been passable, sure, but "very well" seems like more than an optimistic outlook on things. White continues to leave the door open for a UFC opponent moving over for Melendez, but it's seemed pretty clear that no one in the UFC is interested in moving over to Strikeforce. Where they go from here remains to be seen, but it would still be surprising for a lot of people if Strikeforce is still around this time next year.

I would think we were seeing some progress... And then something would happen... And it would seem like we'd be back to square one. It was so frustrating! You just may want them to recover from their bipolar disorder so badly that you try to influence what they do or how they do it, without meaning to. And that may go against their nature. The fact is that they are going to recover at their own pace, regardless of what you do or what you want. And you just can't help that. Anything else is pointless and frustrating. The second thing that is pointless and frustrating is... That you can't make them do anything they don't want to do. For example: Say they don't want to go see their therapist. You can't make them go. Even if you could... You can't make them talk to the therapist or open up and share what's going on with them. So it's pointless to even try - you just can't make them do it if they don't want to. Unless you're the parent of a child with bipolar disorder, you just can't make your loved one do something that they don't want to do. Usually, people with bipolar disorder have very strong wills... And they will fight you if you try to make them do something that they don't want to do. So trying to do it is pointless and frustrating. The third thing that is pointless and frustrating is... You can't fight with them. You know what I'm talking about. Like when your loved one goes into a rage about something... And no matter what you do... You just know you're not going to win. But the thing is... You have to understand that the point is that it's not about winning or losing. Because your loved one will keep going until they think they've "won" anyway. The point is that even fighting with them is just pointless and frustrating to begin with. So you have to find a way to de-escalate the fight. To somehow end it early, with the least amount of frustration for you. That's what all these points are about. Decreasing your frustration. If you know about these situations, you can avoid them, and then you can decrease your frustration. What do you think? Nick Diaz no-shows for grappling superfight, Facebook post blames ?shady promoter?
Most importantly, he was supposed to show up for his first competitive match-up since being suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission for a positive marijuana test after losing to Carlos Condit in February. He didn't.
Diaz never showed up to the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo in Long Beach, where the bout was scheduled to take place. Estima was reasonably steamed for the no-show.
"I know he's supposed to be the big MMA bad guy and he's all tough, he's supposed to be showbiz, but what is this?" said Estima. "When you make an announcement that you're going to fight for charity and you don't show up, what the hell is going on? It's not about showbiz. It's about being a good person. I don't know what is going on."
The Facebook page that purports to represent the Diaz brothers had this post on it early Sunday morning:

Match ain't happening
When Estima communicated with the WJJE organizers that he couldn't get down to the agreed-upon 180-pound weight limit, they renegotiated the weight to 185 pounds. Diaz's camp agreed to the weight change ahead of time. As for the donation, could Diaz not have deposited his purse into his account and then written a check to St. Jude's? Taking five minutes to make the donation himself surely would have been better than depriving the hospital completely.
And if he really made the decision not to show up because of the promoters, he should have communicated it to his fans well before they spent $12.95 on the live stream of the event. That decision would have truly hurt the "shady" promoters in their wallets.
Instead, Diaz again decided not to show up for a commitment. In October, he skipped out on several media opportunities before his planned title fight and was removed from the bout. Again, he bizarrely blamed everyone but himself.
At this point, Diaz not following through on his commitments is par for the course. The MMA world shouldn't expect anything else.

In a blockbuster announcement Thursday afternoon, UFC President Dana White revealed that Brock Lesnar is once again suffering from diverticulitis and will not be able to fight at UFC 131. Instead, the main event on that fight card will be Junior dos Santos vs. Shane Carwin.
"I want to thank the UFC, I want to thank Mr. White and I want to apologize to Junior dos Santos and Spike TV," Lesnar said. "This is an unfortunate situation for me. I dodged a bullet about two years ago with diverticulitis, at that time not knowing what the problem was. ... Diverticulitis is something that never goes away. It's something I've dealt with since the first occurrence and I've been battling it."

Then time flies by and the important item that needed doing is never done. Regrettably, there is always something more important to do than read more news or catch up on social networks. That's why I get cross with myself when I waste time, and that's why I try to stop distraction cold at the Lockscreen.
The first thing you'll need is an app that lets you create wallpapers with notes on them. The one I use is called Sticky Notes. Whatever app you choose, the most important aspect to remember is to keep things simple in three easy steps:
- Pick out a striking background.
- Put a blank note in the center of your screen.
- Write your reminder.
As with any sort of reminder, however, there are good and bad ways to implement them. Over time, I have found that keeping the following pointers in mind leads to more successful reminders for me:
- Use no more than two reminders at a time.
I have found that having a virtual todo list of items on my Lockscreen is so overwhelming I begin to ignore it. - Change after a week.
Keeping the reminder fresh is key to its effectiveness. - Try not to have too busy or interesting of a backdrop.
You can see for yourself that my iPad Lockscreen is much busier than the iPhone version. The busier the background, the less effective the reminders. I was more interested in playing with Decim8 than making an effective background, but coloring the reminder's text helped it stand out. Usually, tho, I opt for a less competitive background. - Keep the reminder short and simple.
You only have a few nanoseconds to capture your attention before you swipe your iDevice open and dive into the Pool of Distraction. You'll tune out and eventually stop seeing the reminder altogether if your have too much text.
Obviously, this is not a sure-fire method to snap you to attention and save you from yourself. If you are craving your daily Pinterest updates, then you won't likely stop no matter how tall you type "DO YOUR TAXES!!!!!1!" on the Lockscreen. However, with training and practice, you will find that having one or two key reminders on the Lockscreen can help you keep focused when you might not otherwise be.
